Wow- I am QUITE the cyber being.

For two whole days I have logged on, and commited thought to keyboard. No small feat. And can I just say that I was mightily excited to discover that my blog - that's MY BLOG - had been quoted in someone else's blog!! It's quite incredible. I would post a link, but that seems slightly ridiculous - a link from me to them back to me again, oh.. what the hell! http://news.com.com/2061-11199_3-6114996.html Jonathan says I must now be "A Respected Blogger" Ha ha. I should get business cards made up....

Anyway...the reason I know this is because I actually did a very vain thing. I Googled myself. How sad.

It's funny though - before I was married, I shared the a name with a Gloustershire famer, heavily involved in the whole Foot and Mouth crisis. Not very glam. Sorry farmers!

Now I have the same name as a 22 year old (most people call her Julez) who lives in the gloriously named "Island of Moose Factory" !! http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=19653243

Also the genuine me gets a mention in our Esteemed Leader (JZ) 's blog - even though I think he's poking fun at me.... I'll take that! I like JZ's blog - he has a very engaging writing style. But don't just take my word for it... http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland/jzdiary/0000008920.shtml

Anyhoo - I do have SOME SERIOUSLY EXCITING NEWS!!!... but I will leave that for the "video" portion of this blog.

I actually just had a proper thought - maybe I should talk about the radio programme? Maybe a bit of "behind the scenes" chat would be cool... what do you think? For example today, I got tested live on air for food "intolerances". The woman seemed to think I had sensitivity to cow's milk, wheat, yeast, rice, soya, tomoatoes and lamb. Odd - no? Bunkum, perhaps? I mean, I'm veggie, so I eat a load of soya product and I'm fine afterwards. And I LOVE tomatoes and bread! I was seriously suspicious of the technique she used to decide what I might be sensitive to - it involved me holding a little vial of different powdered stuff, up to my face and then she tested my muscle response to each one by pushing down on my outstretched arm... But it just felt like she was sometimes pushing down harder on my arm than other times? It's weird. ANyway.. you can listen again to the show here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland/view/show.shtml?macaulayandco and hear for yourself!

Tomorrow - A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION I need your help with - I'm getting my hair cut. good hair.jpg
But right now, I just ate a whole big lump of tablet and I feel a bit sick. Ciao for now.

I've written nothing for ages. Pathetic.

Ok... so I just had a whole day of talking about blogs and podcasts.. so I thought I'd come home and do a bit of both.

Today's "session" made me think about what I should be putting on here - apparently a blog is not a blog unless you stimulate conversation. I need to find my niche. I need to get controversial! I need to think about what I can offer that is different and special.... hmmmm.... no more self indulgent ramblings about George Michael and being a chubster.

Also - I recently discovered the joys of Skype and bought a headset thingy with a mic and a webcam.

Problem is they are both a bit crap. And when you are on Skype it keeps breaking up and the sound is dreadful..

Once again the future (you know - the video phones they had in Knight Rider) has not lived up to expectations! As I seem to increasingly find myself saying...
Where's my sodding Jet pack ?? jetpack.jpg

The future is rubbish.

In Back to the Future II they had hoverboards in 2015 - that's SOON. Hoverboard.jpg

Come on scientists - invent some cool stuff!! We were promised anti-gravity boots and all sorts - HOW HARD CAN IT BE????

Right... I'm going to see if I can attach a video to this - like a vlog (is that what you call it?) This is my first attempt to see how you do it - prepare to be astounded!

and then I used the camera... with similarly breath-taking results!

Speak soon.

Please let me know if they really are working on a hoverboard somehwere... it would make my day!!

Gorgeous George!

|

SO after 25 years of waiting ... I finally got to see my favourite star in concert. The first gay man I fell in love with (although sadly not the last... but that's a story for another day) and the highlight of the 80s for me - yes, George Michael! gm.jpg gm2.jpg

Best mate Vic and I had talked about seeing George as being the ultimate concert, so when tickets went on sale we had been up for hours - standing by with credit cards and fingers poised to dial. At one point I was on a constant re-dial with both my house phone and mobile phone, and after over an hour of constantly engaged lines I was losing hope of ever getting a ticket.

When Vic texted excitedly to say she had managed to secure 4 tickets (albeit for Manchester) I practically wet myself with delight!

So on Tuesday, I took the afternoon off and we all headed off down the motorway to Manchester. Our husbands (mine particularly reluctantly) let us listen to some of GM's hits as we drove singing along, excitment building.

We got to the MEN Arena with plenty of time and found our seats (vertigo-inducingly high, but who cares..). 15,500 fans (well, 15,499 - my hubby remained unimpressed) crammed into the venue and we were treated to the most fabulous and memorable concert you could ever hope to see!! The set was an amazing computer generated interactive affair, and George was on top form. Highlights of the night for me were "Waiting" which was the opener and one of my favourites from Listen without Predjudice, and Praying for Time, which gave me a lump in my throat from start to finish. Freedom and Careless Whisper were also fabulous... well.. it was all great!!!

Mutya joined him on stage for a duet and that was lovely- all in all I think you get the idea - I LOVED IT!!!

Wish I could do it all over again.......

Fat me.... Thin me...

|

Whilst on a weight loss support website (yes folks, it's that time of the year again) I discovered this marvellous tool - the virtual model you! It's actually designed so that you can shop online for clothes - what you do is put in your height and weight and it creates a virtual you! You can change the hair colour/ stlye eye colour and face shape so that it really looks quite like you... what i did was to put in my current weight and then see what I would look like if I lost the target amount of poundage!

Here are the results: (I kept the clothes on to spare you the full horror)

Fat Me
FATME.jpg

Unpleasant.

Thin Me
THINME.jpg
Fabulous!

You can even see the view from the side (if you really want to)... I think it's kinda cool. Really helps to motivate (and depress) me!

Try it for yourself here: http://myvirtualmodel.com/en/index.htm I clicked on the H&M link for mine.

Lonelygirl15 is a New Zealand actress called Jessica, apparently. According to some article she's a 19 year old actress who moved to California to get work. The makers of the "work" are a bunch of independent filmmakers, but I'm sure all will be revealed soon enough.

Image search on google came up with these pics jessica rose.jpg jessicarose.jpg

The thumbnails linked to a talent management agency in New Zealand, but the original pics have been taken off their site... unsurprisingly... in an attempt to hind the real identity of "Bree".

I feel a tad disappointed now the truth is out - it's like a book you just want to get to the end of to find out what happened - so you skip to the end and read the last few pages and then just feel annoyed with yourself cos there's no point in reading the book anymore. I think they should have kept the whole saga going for longer.

My addiction to/ interest in this virtual soap seems to have dissolved- which is good in a way. Less distractions the better for an ADD-type like m'self.

Anyway.. that's enough rambling for one day.

Friday fun!

|

Ok, so .. It's Friday, the boss is away and we're getting into the party mood already! M' colleague Ashley innocently started it all by asking what our favourite dance track of all time was.. and before you could shake a glow stick we had some bangin' tracks blasting out the laptop - Here are our favourites:

Then we got on to power ballads .... ("I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight", Berlin - "Take My breath Away" - well.. this would could last all day!!! -lovin' it -oh and not forgetting another fav of mine - and I;m going to see him performing live in November which I'm so excited about I could just about burst!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8lmbzUBPj0

Any more suggestions for us??

Conspiracies!!

|

Hmmm.. we all love a good conspiracy, and since I have been exploring the wonderful new ways people are communicating ideas and broadcasting, I have come across a couple!

Well.. I'm not sure if I would call them conspiracies as such..

Anyway. I'm talking about fake people.

Not robots, or monsters... no these kind are the invention of - well, that's the mystery.

Let me try to be less cryptic.

lonelygirl15.jpg lucyinla.jpg

Lonelygirl15 http://http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=lonelygirl15 and LucyinLAhttp://www.youtube.com/profile?user=LUCYinLA. Now I'm convinced that LonelyGirl is a fake, but I'm not 100% sure about Lucy. You'll find them both on YouTube and MySpace, peddling their videoblog wares....

Lonelygirl is a real soap opera with some bizarre cult stuff thrown in for good measure and LucyinLa is, well, kinda typical American girl trying to make it in Hollywood - hardly original. But she is very pretty in a girl next door kinda way and enthusiastic. Still some folks seem to think they smell a rat.

I just couldn't give a rat's arse - it's just entertainment. You can check it all out for yourself, but be warned! It's highly addictive!

But it does seem to be the future of broadcasting - or at least part of the future.

Lonelygirl has had hundreds of thousands of people view her videos, likewise Lucyinla. And they have created a real buzz - mostly as to the authenticity of their heroines. But could this be the future? Short online "webisodes" in bite size chunks, of soap operas / dramas / magazine programmes etc. It would seem the appetite is there.

Hmmmmmmmm

Tell me what you think.
